June 25, 2014 Update

In the June 2014 Car Lease Ratings, the Toyota RAV4 is once again near the top of the ratings for Best SUV Lease Deals. This ranking is among the tops for for either SUV or Car. Keep in mind, that this is a newly released RAV4 model which is less than a year and a half old. This is rare offer for a new generation automobile and suggests how competitive Toyota has been building small, quality SUVs with superior residual value. The outstanding lease offer I wrote about on the RAV4 prior to its new release boasted the top rating many times in my monthly lease ratings. Today, you can lease a basic Toyota RAV4 for just $238.00 a month and no down payment for 36 months. This is an LVR of just .91% which is right in line with the older models. One can only wonder, is going to get even better for leasing these sporty, economical SUVs? Nobody has beaten Toyota when it comes to offering value on it’s best selling SUV. For a while, Infiniti came close. Recently, Infiniti had some amazing lease deals on their older SUV series. With those SUV’s being phased out, Infiniti is not nearly so strong when it comes to leasing an SUV. It is safe to say, most of the smaller models are making the best of the best when it comes to leasing SUV’s. But, here is what surprised me when I looked back at this article just a few minutes ago: Toyota also had the best lease offer on $28,000 – $35,000 SUV’s with the outstanding offer on the 2011 Highlander. Below, is the original article, if you’d like to see how SUV leasing has evolved and changed over the last two years.

Rating the Best SUV Lease Deals

SUV Leasing has been rather disappointing for cars in the $28,000 to $35,000 price range. This is probably a reflection of gas prices more than anything else and cars in this price range tend to be bigger and eat up more fuel.  At the same time, some of the most popular SUVs happen to fall under this category.  To do this review, I researched up to 10 SUVs and was able to find only 5 of them with LVR Ratios rated below 1.25%.  In the past, when doing research on SUV leases in this price range, I never stumbled upon anything that really jumps out as a great deal. Surprisingly,  things have gotten a little better as a couple of SUVs really rose to the occasion: The Toyota Highlander and the Nissan Murano. Through the end of July you can lease a Toyota Highlander with an MSRP of $33,464 for just $329.00 a month and $1,800 down. The Nissan Murano lease is almost as good, if not for the quirky 39-month lease term. Lease the Murano S AWD with MSRP of $32,000 for $329.00 a month, $2670 down payment for 39 months. The Highlander and Murano have Lease Value Ratios (LVR) of 1.13% and 1.16% respectively. Anything under 1.20% for an SUV is quite good. Below are the Best SUV Lease Deals, rated from 1-5.
