Surprise Lease Offers from Cadillac, Buick and Mazda

Some unlikely car names lead the top-5 in the 2010 November Car Lease Offers:
Cadillac, Buick and Mazda replace Hondas and Toyotas as this month’s top cars to lease.

Before you get too excited about The Cadillac CTS ultra-low 1.05 LVR (Lease Value Ratio), there are a couple of disadvantages to keep in mind:

  • Quirky 39 month lease term:
  • This means, depending on the state you reside, you may be paying registration tax on two different cars in 3-5 months: The old car and the new car.

  • Low Mileage Lease
  • Cadillac only gives you 10,000 driving miles per year then charges an outrageous .25 per mile after that. That is an extremely costly hit for excess mileage. My current Subaru lease is only good for 10,000 miles per year too, but the fee is only .15 per mile. I’m not going to say that the Cadillac CTS Sedan is still not a great lease. When you can lease a $37,250 Luxury Car for $349.00 a month with less than $2,000 down, it’s a GOOD deal. On the other hand, I’d be prepared to haggle a bit with the dealer over the low allowance and costly mileage fees. I’d also express my concerns about the odd, 39 month lease term.

Exciting New Car Leasing by Buick

Unlike Cadillac, Buick is a bit more reasonable on the mileage, charging only .15 per mile and an allowance of 12,000 miles per year. The exciting new, 2011 Buick Regal CXL has an excellent lease. This is a $27,000 car with an unestablished resale track record, yet the 1.09 LVR is better than 90% of the Car Leases reviewed on Monthly Car Lease.¬† It will be interesting to see how the new Buick Regal is received by Motor Trend and the other major Car Review Publications. You gotta love the 0-Down Lease Offers from Volkswagen and Mazda. The Mazda 3 Hatchback has an excellent Lease offer for November: 0-Down, and $239 a month for 42 Months. Kind of sad to see, Toyota slipping a little bit from it’s top spot month after month. On the other hand, it’s great to see some better offers from other car makers, particularly the American made Buick and Cadillac. Keep an eye out for the mileage allowance, monthly term and excess mileage fees.

    0-Down Lease Offer from Volkswagen

The newly designed 2011 VW Jetta has an attractive, no-money down lease offer for $239.00 a month. Sounds like a good deal, yet the VW Jetta only ranks 22 out of the 25 car leases featured here. The reason Volkswagen Jettas rarely finish near the top in the LVR (Leave Value Ratio) ratings is their low, $16,900 MSRP. While the Jetta certainly competes with Civics, Corollas and Mazdas, the suggested retail price on the stripped down model is about $1000 less than those other cars. While, this might make the purchase option for a Jetta a little more attractive, I wouldn’t hesitate to lease one at this price if it’s the car you want. Don’t forget, any lease deal is still negotiable at your dealer.
