SUV Gas Mileage: Leasing For MPG

SUV Gas Mileage for Lease? Back in January of this year, I posted one article on the Best Gas Mileage Cars to lease, then another one titled, SUV Car Lease Specials. An unfair stereotype of SUV drivers exists in America that they don't care about fuel economy. SUV Gas Mileage is not a consideration for these hogs?  This is simply not true. Driving anything other than an SUV is simply not a viable option for many of us. Not considering SUV Gas Mileage, these vehicles are the only ones that take care of three, simultaneous needs:

  1. Hauling Passengers
  2. Hauling Cargo
  3. Driving up icy and snowy roads in the winter

Obviously, because SUVs are bigger, heavier and many are equipped with All Wheel Drive (AWD), they tend to consume more gas. SUV Gas Mileage often is forgotten until you realize what gas costs at the pump. That doesn't mean SUV drivers don't value fuel thrifty automobiles. Though Fuel Economy is a luxury we'd all like to have, some of us are not willing to give up our SUVs, even if we do pay more at the pump...and even if we get frowned at by the that twirpy little Prius driver at the Car Wash. It would seem Un-American to sacrifice the activities and life style made possible by vehicles that suit our active lifestyles. Why can't we have SUVs that haul people, cargo, go up steep icy roads AND get reasonable MPG? There is always a compromise, isn't there and thats where SUV Gas Mileage Ratings come into play. There is one thing that High Gas Mileage Cars and SUVs have in common: They don't always offer the best lease payment. Grant it, there are some fine, fuel efficient, 4-Cylinder cars with excellent lease values such as the Toyota Corolla. But, if you want the very latest technology in fuel efficiency, Hybrid Cars generally don't have the best lease payments. This is mainly due to the fact that the resale value of Hybrids is greatly diminished by the extra cost and unknown life of the battery. Those wishing to lease SUVs face the same double edged sword, but for different reasons. The resale value of SUVs took a big hit with the increase in gas prices and economic slump over the last three years. The poor fuel economy and gas mileage isn't all bad news for SUV owners. SUV Gas Mileage is as critical as the payment. Of the 10 automobiles listed in my Top-10 SUVs listed below, many of them get very similar gas mileage. Most of the 4-Cyl SUVs, like the Toyota RAV-4 and Honda CR-V are rated at 21 MPG City and 27 MPG Highway. One surprising fact is that moving up to a bigger, more powerful V6 engine doesn't drastically hurt the MPG of the SUV. For instance, the very powerful, BMW X5 xDrive 35D is rated a very respectable 19 and 26 MPG City/Highway. SUVs with FWD instead of AWD do get slightly better gas mileage. For this review,  I've decided to include AWD SUV Leasing only. SUV Gas Mileage is ranked from 1 to 10 based on Gas Mileage and LVR (lease value ratio)

Low Interest Car Loans

No or Low Interest Car Loans

Low Interest Car Loans

0 Down No Interest 72 Months

Here are 5 no-interest car loans or low interest car loans that are almost too good to pass up for those considering an auto lease. Both Toyota and Volkswagen offer very popular, appealing cars that hold their resale value quite well. While Toyota generally has the strongest car lease values on the planet, Volkswagen usually offers fair, but not great car leasing. 0% APR Car loans and Low Interest Car Loans completely change the rules of the game. Toyota offers 0% No Interest for 60 months on over 1/3rd of the cars they manufacture and sell. Volkswagen takes low interest car loans a step further with the 72-Month, 0% Car Loan on its Touran and Golf Models. The 72-month No-interest deal includes all models of the Routan, and all but the TDI models of the sporty, Golf. No money down is required. This is almost too good to be true. Best Car Lease Offers for July

Happy 4th!

As of July 7th, 2010, Honda has still not published their car leases for July. For some reason, Honda is boasting .9% interest rates on 24, 36, 48 and 60 month car loan purchases instead. That's nothing unusual. Some of these aren't bad deals, but with other car makers offering 0%, no money down car offers for 60 and even 72 months, they are nothing to get excited about either. Honda's hold their value so well that I would never pay more than 0% interest on a car loan up to 60 months! I imagine that Honda will come up with some good car lease offers by tomorrow or the next day and I will update the July Monthly Car Lease rankings when they do. For now, I've decided to publish what's available on car lease specials for the month as of July 7th. The Toyota RAV-4 is in first place again, with a $199.00 per month offer for 36 months and just $1,499.00 down. This gives the RAV-4 an LVR (Lease Value Ratio) of just 1.00%. Not quite as good as what we've seen in the past, but still an excellent car lease bargain. At number 2, is the Toyota Corolla Sedan LE 2010 with a $169. 00 per month car lease payment and just $1,399 down for an LVR of 1.13%. Not bad. Read the rest of this entry
